Entrance requirements
An Honours degree or equivalent, ideally in finance or a related discipline. Two years of relevant work experience and candidates may be required to present themselves for an interview.
Duration: Part-time or Full time
The degree is offered over two years, but many students take until their third year to finish. Any registration requires faculty approval. It is possible to complete the degree in one year, full-time, subject to the Programme Convener’s permission.
Qualification outline
The programme consists of three coursework modules and three practical research components. The aim is to equip successful candidates with the skills to perform research, analysis and valuations in all the areas of financial management, including capital markets, derivatives, corporate finance, accounting and company valuations. Lectures are face-to-face, typically in the evenings and Saturday mornings, and thus requires a presence in Cape Town.
