The Motherload Photovoice Exhibition

Amplifying the voices of low-income women in South Africa

The culmination of a research project with a group of low-income mothers from the Western Cape. The exhibition sheds a light on their struggles, strengths and needs, and the immense, labour-induced mental burden of mothering without resources, visibility and support. 

A University of Cape Town (UCT) Grand Challenges pilot project in partnership with

• the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC);
• Flourish, a programme of the Grow Great Campaign; and
• the Western Cape Government.
