The South African economy has struggled to keep pace along with the growing labour force as economic growth continues to weaken. While employment has been increasing gradually, the level of unemployment and rate of unemployment has continued to rise. The analysis in the latest factsheet on recent trends in the South African labour market paints a relatively bleak picture, with the central concern being the inability of the economy to create employment on a sustained basis.
