As a core member of GReCEST, the DPRU has been invited to join the Global Coalition of Think Tank Networks for South-South Cooperation. The Global Coalition provides an enabling environment for think tank networks from the South to produce and share relevant knowledge to scale up the impact of South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSC and TrC) in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this partnership the aim is to promote economic structural transformation with particular focus on SSC and TrC through sharing knowledge and generating solutions to advance the SSC agenda for the achievement of the SDGs.

To operationalize this partnership, UNDP has developed the South-South Global Thinkers online platform. The platform aims to provide each think tank network with the space to publicize and promote its research, allow exchanges of knowledge and engage in on-line dialogues and discussions with other established think tank networks on topics related to SSC and TrC. The South-South Global Thinkers is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).

UNDP extended an invitation to the GReCEST (the Global Research Consortium on Economic Structural Transformation) to be the first think tank network to join the online platform before its official launch. A group of 5 GReCEST network members, including the DPRU, had the opportunity to upload and showcase cutting-edge research, contribute context such as news, events and blogs, and most importantly provide feedback on the features of the online platform.

The launch event in Turkey, took place on Thursday, 30th November 2017. Download the South-South Global Thinkers brochure to learn more about the global coalition of think tank networks for South-South cooperation.
