New Working Paper: An Initial Assessment of Biodiversity-Related Employment in South Africa
In anticipation of the launch of the National Biodiversity Assessment tomorrow, 3 October 2019, we are pleased to publish the following in our DPRU Working Paper series: "An Initial Assessment of Biodiversity-Related Employment in South Africa".
Authored by Amanda Driver, Fulufhelo Mukhadi & Emily A. Botts, this paper was developed as part of the REDI 3x3 Research Project on Employment, Income Distribution and Inclusive Growth, within Focus Area 3 on Inclusive Growth. The research was undertaken by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) with guidance from the DPRU.
Morné Oosthuizen, DPRU Deputy Director, played a key role as project advisor, including guiding the approach to the study, advising on how best to work with the industry and occupation codes, extracting Quarterly Labour Force Survey data, advising on the interpretation and discussion of the results, and reviewing a draft of the paper.
