Rute Caeiro
Rute M. Caeiro is a development economist whose work centres on generating credible causal evidence to inform policy in low- and middle-income countries. She is currently a Research Scientist at the University of Oxford, where she works at the What Works Hub for Global Education within the Blavatnik School of Government. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UNU-WIDER. She is also an external research affiliate at NOVAFRICA. Her research uses experimental and quasi-experimental methods to study questions across education, social protection, agriculture, and governance, with a particular interest in how policies and programmes perform in contexts of poverty, fragility, and conflict. She has extensive experience designing and implementing impact evaluations across Sub-Saharan Africa. Caeiro holds a PhD in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics, during which she was a visiting researcher at Stanford University.
