Building Economic Complexity Workshop
The DPRU hosted a half-day workshop on Building Economic Complexity for Inclusive Growth in South Africa, on Monday 23rd July in Johannesburg. The event featured a presentation from Prof Haroon Bhorat (DPRU Director) and DPRU Researcher, François Steenkamp, as well as a panel with Nimrod Zalk (The dti) and Wandile Sihlobo (Agricultural Business Chamber (Agbiz)).
This globally innovative research has the aim of providing concrete policy options that enable African economies to move from low productivity to high productivity, high growth sectors - in a bid to generate broad-based employment opportunities.
This project is funded by The Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award (Oppenheimer Memorial Trust), with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Read more about the IDRC funded Economic Complexity project here.
