Prof Rajen Govender

Associate Professor

Professor Rajen Govender has worked for 35 years as an independent researcher, academic and consultant in the public, tertiary, civil society and private sectors. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals, authored one book, and co-edited the volume: Rethinking Reconciliation: Evidence from South Africa. His current research seeks to map and understand the epidemiology and risk correlates of morbidity and mortality from violence and injury in South Africa, the African continent and the Global South. He is also Professor Extraordinaire at the Institute for Social and Health Sciences, University of South Africa, Senior Research fellow at the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), and Expert Trainer to the AfroBarometer Pan-African Network.
