The Bachelor of Business Science specialising in Finance, Investment and Banking is a four-year professional degree designed for students seeking advanced study in finance, supported by a strong foundation in economics and quantitative methods. Finance is studied to fourth-year level, with economics studied to third-year level, providing students with the analytical and technical foundation required to understand financial markets, investment decisions and the allocation of capital.

Finance is a forward-looking discipline concerned with how capital is sourced, allocated and invested under uncertainty. It combines rigorous theory and quantitative analysis with judgement and an understanding of markets and human behaviour. The breadth and depth of the Finance, Investment and Banking degree therefore prepare graduates for a wide range of careers across investment management, banking, corporate finance, financial analysis, risk management and consulting.

The degree provides particularly strong preparation for careers in the investment profession. It is affiliated with the CFA Institute, which offers the Chartered Financial Analyst professional qualification. This degree covers a substantial proportion of the curriculum relevant to the first level of the CFA examinations. The programme is also affiliated with the CAIA Institute, reflecting its coverage of alternative investments. This organisation offers the CAIA Charter, the global professional qualification for alternative investment professionals.
