Alfred Tunyire Apio
Alfred Tunyire Apio is a PhD environmental and natural resource economics student at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He earned his Bachelor and MPhil in economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. As an environmental and natural resource economist, he is interested in the efficient management of natural resources, especially water resources and their governance institutions.
Alfred's PhD dissertation focusses on water resources management in the agricultural sector of South Africa. The dissertation focusses on three main crucial themes – the adoption of water conservation technologies by farmers to reduce the effects of droughts and water shortages, remedying agricultural nonpoint source pollution to ensure the sustainability of South Africa's water resources and the performance of water management institutions for sustainable water resources.
He hopes to use his experience and knowledge to support the effective performance of water institutions and their development in the continent and the world to protect this all-important resource for humankind.
