Dr Hafte Gebrihet
Dr Hafte Gebrihet is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, University of Cape Town (UCT). His research focuses on building democratic governance and resilient institutions in Africa with particular emphasis on sustainable development goals (SDGs). He has over ten years of research, community service, and teaching experience in Ethiopia and South Africa. Hafte has published several academic articles on land governance and reform in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at national and international conferences.
Hafte has worked with several national and international public, private, and civil society associations: Hafte is a member of the South African Association of Public Administration and Management, a Member of the Ethiopian Economic Association in Ethiopia, and the secretary of the Tegrayan Community Association in South Africa. He has offered analyses of the Ethiopian civil war to several national and international media outlets.
Research Interests: Building democratic governance and resilient institutions in Africa; Corruption and State capture; Political economy of land; Political economy of democratic accountability; State-society relations.
