Roundtable | Green Industrialisation in Africa: Why and How?

The Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, University of Cape Town, and CEU- Democracy Institute invites you to an interactive roundtable discussion titled, The imperative of greening industrialisation and Industrial Policy in Africa.
African countries are amongst the least carbon-intensive, but are projected to be most adversely impacted by climate change. This roundtable discussion explores why African countries should engage actively with the green industrialisation agenda notwithstanding capacity and resources constraints. No countries have achieved high income and welfare levels without industrialising and no country has industrialised without industrial policies. Green industrialisation is no different although the context is different and will require shifts towards more sustainable production that consumers and governments are increasingly demanding.
These complexities raise questions which will be unpacked in the roundtable discussion:
