AfDB and the African Information Highway

Africa Information Highway (AIH): The continent’s first “one-stop centre” for development data

The Graduate School of Development Policy and Practice and SALDRU hosted a launch of the African Development Bank's information super highway at the University of Cape Town on 25th February.
The meeting was attended by 40 economic researchers at UCT including the Dean of Commerce Professor Don Ross, Professor Edwin Muchapondwa, Head of Economics, and Emeiritus Professor of Economics , Professor Francis Wilson.
The meeting was hosted by Professor Alan Hirsch on behalf of GSDPP and Professor Murray Leibranddt on behalf of SALDRU.
Dr Mthuli Ncube, Chief Economist and Vice President of the AfDB lead the presentation. He was supported by Kokil Beejaye and Louis Kouakou who demonstrated the AfDB’s new data platforms. The new AfDB data services turn out to be really good quality and very accessible, and a huge boon to economic policy researchers who need high quality and accessible data on African countries.
