The Atlantic Fellows programme (AFp) is a new Fellowship programme to support and nurture a cadre of leaders who will act as catalysts to address major questions of inequality today. The AFp is seeking to attract applications from diverse, multi-disciplinary academic backgrounds, and from those with practical experience of tackling inequalities, such as activists, advocates, policy makers and practitioners.

The programme is especially keen to support applicants who do not otherwise have the resources to fund MSc studies, especially those from developing nations.

The AFp is supported by a generous grant from the Atlantic Philanthropies. The programme is based at the LSE with a series of ‘Node Partners’ around the world, the first of which is University of Cape Town in South Africa. The GSDPP is pleased to be partnering with the Atlantic Philanthropies and the LSE in this exciting endeavour.

There are three tracks for the programme:

Atlantic Residential Fellows:

The Atlantic Residential Fellows will complete the 1 year MSc in Inequalities and Social Science (MISS), at LSE, comprising core interdisciplinary training in different approaches to inequality. The Fellows will also take part in a number of events such as the annual LSE International Inequalities Institute conference and other networking opportunities.

Atlantic Non-Residential Fellows:

This is a 12-18 month non-residential programme consisting of a three week summer school, several week-long short courses, and project work. The programme is aimed at those who have substantial experience but do not have the time to commit to a one year MSc.

Atlantic Visiting Fellows:

The programme will be focused on creating high profile advances in both academic understanding and in developing practical responses to the challenge of inequality. Teams of 3-4 Visiting Fellows will work alongside each other during 3-9 month residencies at the III. Applications for this programme will be invited at a later time.
