Africa is home to some of the highest rates of inequality in the world. Can the labour market be a solution to this crisis? How can we better understand the un(der)employment - inequality nexus and explore effective and scalable solutions for Africa, especially among young people?
To explore these, the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Development Policy and Practice (GSDPP) is hosting the International Inequalities Institute Annual Conference. Leading thinkers, including Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, Hilma Mote, Prof. Carlos Lopes, Prof. Ruth Hall and Hon. Prof. Trevor Manuel will be discussing solutions to address inequality in Africa. Session themes include Labour markets and youth in Africa with a key focus on youth, Pathways to Inclusive African Development: industrialisation and agriculture and New ideas and solutions.
