Report Launch: Improving Public Sector Performance through Innovation and Inter-Agency Coordination

Jana Kunicova, Senior Public Sector Specialist at the World Bank and a lead author of the report, will look at How to make public sector work better in low and middle-income countries? 

The Global Report on Public Sector Performance is a new publication series that attempts to address this question. Please join us for the launch of the inaugural report in this series, Improving Public Sector Performance through Innovation and Inter-Agency Coordination, developed by the Governance Global Practice and supported by the Bank’s Global Knowledge and Research Hub in Malaysia. The report documents 15 inspiring cases of positive change in non-OECD countries and teases out success drivers that recur in these examples.  The report also shines a spotlight on a special topic -- policy and inter-agency coordination – drawing on the Bank’s experience supporting these reforms to distill what works and why.

About the speaker:

Jana Kunicová is a Senior Public Sector Specialist at the World Bank.  In her current assignment, she works on the issues of regional integration, center-of-government reform, digital economy, and capacity building in the Africa region.   Previously, she managed the Public Sector Performance outbound knowledge program at the World Bank’s Global Knowledge and Research Hub, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she led the inaugural issue of the Global Report on Public Sector Performance.  Since joining the Bank in 2006, Jana has worked on improving public sector performance (including the issues of service delivery, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, civil service, and public administration reform); integrity and anti-corruption systems; and political economy analysis. Jana’s regional experience spans the Europe and Central Asia, East Asia and Pacific, and Africa regions. She has managed lending operations, developed strategies, and prepared analytical products in a variety of settings: low income and/or fragile states, middle income countries, as well as high income countries, where she helped design and implement reimbursable advisory services. Jana holds a PhD in political economy from Yale University.
