Professional Programme

The Assessment of Professional Competence is the final academic requirement to qualifying as a CA(SA). The APC is a case study assessment that focus on professional skills, requiring you to apply the technical competence you have already demonstrated at university and in the IAC to a scenario that simulates the real-life expectations placed on a newly-qualified CA(SA).

Our programme is about more than just passing an exam, it is designed to grow your professional competence and set you up for the next stage in your career.

We provide you with the maximum level of flexibility together with maximum opportunity for engagement with the programme material and the academic team.

To help you prepare for the 2026 SAICA APC, we offer two distinct options:

  1. Our Full Professional Programme

  2. Our Repeat Offering

  1. Full Professional Programme:

Who is it for?

  • First-time APC candidates in 2026

  • Anyone who completed another provider’s programme

  • Candidates who passed the UCT APC Professional programme in 2023 or earlier (whose completion letters have expired)

  • Candidates who passed the UCT APC Professional programme in 2024 and/or 2025 but want to refresh everything for 2026

  1. Repeat Offering:

Who is it for?

Full Professional Programme

All Trainee Chartered Accountants must successfully complete a professional programme before attempting their APC with SAICA.

The APC shifts the focus from the subject-specific knowledge of the ITC/IAC to professional competence and integrated thinking. While you must retain your technical foundation, the APC primarily tests your ability to simulate real-world CA(SA) responsibilities.

Our Programme is structured to ensure you develop the precise toolkit and mindset required to confidently tackle the APC case study format and ultimately, achieve your CA(SA) designation.

  • Mentorship groups are encouraged, though entirely optional. You will be able to confirm your choice when registering.

  • You can only register for either the full programme or the repeat offering. Only one option, so take a moment to decide which route genuinely serves your progress.

  • Study groups can be formed across both options, because the three exam case studies are identical. Just a heads-up: we are not able to coordinate or match study groups for you; that part is up to the Trainees.

  • Your UCT letter of successful completion from 2024 or 2025 will be the document you use to sit the SAICA APC in December 2026. The Repeat Offering does not issue a new completion letter.
