Sumaya is a lecturer and the section head for Auditing and Assurance at the College of Accounting (UCT), and teaches the Auditing and Assurance courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She obtained her B.Com Accounting at UCT and her CTA at the University of Kwazulu-Natal. She completed her articles at PwC in Cape Town and was later appointed their audit manager.
