The REEP research team needs help to learn about cigarette brands and prices during the lockdown, and is running an anonymous survey capturing photos via WhatsApp and a google form. This follows two recent REEP surveys on smoking and quitting behaviour during the last few months: reported on in #1: "Lighting Up The Illicit Market" Report: Smoker’s Responses to the Cigarette Sales Ban in South Africa" and #2: "Smoking and Quitting Behaviour in Lockdown South Africa: Results from a second survey".

This academic survey is targeted at South Africans who purchased cigarettes during the lockdown. The information sent will be anonymous, and will not be used to trace the respondents in any way. REEP is not associated with SARS or the police (SAPS), or any other government authority. This survey will take between 2 and 3 minutes to complete. It has been approved by the Ethics Committee at the University of Cape Town. If you have any questions about the survey please contact Professor Corné van Walbeek at cornelis.vanwalbeek@uct.ac.za.
