Welcome to the Commerce Faculty at UCT!
Registration opens for new postgraduate students in the week of 23 January 2023. Please note that registration closes on 9 February 2023.
You should have received an email advising you can proceed with registration. If you have not received an email by Tuesday, 24 January 2023, please email com.registration@uct.ac.za with the following title/subject line on your email: “No activity guide + Student Number”. An administrator will respond when the issue has been resolved.
- There are three registration modes for postgraduate students: Programme Enrolment, Blank Shopping Cart or Pre-populated Shopping Cart. To determine which mode applies to your programme, consult the list: 2023 Commerce Postgraduate Programmes – Registration Methods.
- Once you have identified your registration mode, download the relevant Postgraduate Student Registration Activity Guide below. The guide will help you complete the steps when registering online on PeopleSoft.
Postgraduate Student Registration Activity Guides
- Log onto PeopleSoft and use the Postgraduate Student Registration Activity Guide for your registration mode to assist you through the process.
Important note: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)/Progress and Planned Activity Report (PPA)
All postgraduate students that must register for a dissertation in the first semester must complete an MOU with their allocated dissertation supervisors before they can complete their registration. The MoU is completed online, on PeopleSoft, as part of the online registration process. Please download the guide: Completing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)/Progress and Planned Activity (PPA) on PeopleSoft for Students.
A hold will be placed on your registration until the MOU is approved. You must therefore allow adequate time to work with your supervisor to develop your MoU so that your MoU block can be removed and your registration be completed before the registration cut-off date.
Once you have registered, your next step is to ensure you are well-orientated at UCT. The UCT Postgraduate Hub contains useful information for postgraduate students, including funding, rules and regulations.
There are also excellent orientation materials available for new students, including a series of videos on the services available to postgraduate students at UCT. We encourage you to watch these videos to help you to settle into your postgraduate journey.
