Concessions
A student may, in special circumstances, apply for a concession to deviate from the programme curriculum. In these cases, the Concession Form must be completed and added as an attachment when you submit your registration.
Only students with a CONT academic standing can register online via the Blank Shopping Cart (BSC). The following student groups will register on campus – please see below for details:
- BCom Accounting
- BCom in Management Studies
- Economics
- You should have received an email advising you can proceed with registration. If you have not received an email by Tuesday, 24 January 2023, please email com.registration@uct.ac.za with the following title/subject line on your email: “No activity guide + Student Number”. An administrator will respond when the issue has been resolved.

Step-by-step Guide to Online Registration via the Blank Shopping Cart (BSC)
BCom Chartered Accountant and BCom General Accounting returning undergraduate students must see an advisor in person on Upper Campus before submitting their registration requests.
Please book a registration slot on the ACC Student Advice Vula site. If you are currently not on this Vula site, please email accstudentadvice@uct.ac.za and request to be added.
Registration will take place from 31 January to 8 February 2023.
Due to the range of electives available, all students registering for BCom in Management Studies must receive curriculum advice and assistance in registering online. Please remember to bring your laptop with you and download your shopping list below before coming to register.

All students registering for an Economics degree must register face-to-face at the School of Economics Building. There is no option to register online. This will ensure that you liaise with an advisor for academic advice and finalise your registration in one easy step. The registration dates and times for the School of Economics are listed below.
- 24 January 2023 to 27 January 2023: 09h00 – 15h30
- 6 February 2023 to 9 February 2023: 09h00 – 15h30
If you wrote supplementary or deferred exams, you can only complete registration in the week of 6 February 2023 to 9 February 2023 from 09h00 – 15h30 once the Faculty Examinations Committee approves your results.

EDU students: Academic standing CONT
EDU students with an academic standing of CONT can register from 24 January to 8 February 2023. Please note that BCom Accounting, BCom in Management Studies, and Economics EDU students must register on campus. Please see the specific instructions for those degrees on this page (above).
EDU students registering for all other degrees must register online via the Blank Shopping Cart. Before starting to register, download your Shopping List and Student Registration Activity Guide. Follow the step-by-step guide below to download these documents.
Step-by-step Guide to Online Registration via the Blank Shopping Cart (BSC)
At Step 12, once you have finished adding your courses, submitted, requested approval, and then created your service request, it will be assigned to an EDU Student Advisor to review the details. Your registration could be returned to you to make changes, or you may receive a message to see your Student Advisor.
If you need to see a Student Advisor to discuss your curriculum, face-to-face registration will take place from 6 to 8 February 2023 from 08h30 to 15h00 in Snape Drawing Office 2.
EDU students: Academic standing FECC, FECF, FECR and RAC
You must register on campus from 6 to 8 February 2023. You do not need to book an appointment. Please remember to bring your laptop with you.
